Have you ever had the thought, "why the heck didn't they make more movies of Russell Crowe in the Master & Commander series?" Well, my dear sailor, you are not alone!
We too, have many questions! So come celebrate the legacy of Patrick O'Brian with some fellow fans of Aubrey & Maturin. We'll revel in some web clips of the movie, discuss the author, his legacy, the books, the movie some more, and spend way too much time discussing the rigging! Our Lieutenant will be erudite! The discussion will not. We may even manage to scrounge up some Madeira for the multiple toasts to our dear King and the defeat of the godforsaken French.
Led by the American historian, Angry Staff Officer, of some repute, and seconded by a drunk bookseller from Solid State Books, we promise that no one will walk away a landlubber! Or sober.
Ten bucks at the door, SSB will raffle off copies of the books, and award a book or two in light trivia battle! The bookstore will also have some for purchase. 8pm til 10pmish on the ides of March.
Beware what lurks in the mist! It's probably a Frenchman
Looking for a fun, page-turn historical novel about the British navy, about naval culture and the colonial era, you’ve come to the right place! this event is all ages, with a cash bar.
